Everything is better when I’m in the bath, the sun is up, the radio is on, and I’m feeling good
I must stress before you read this blog, this is neither biographical nor autobiography, the subject is fictional.
I’m a nice man, with a nice briefcase. I own 9 pairs of black socks and 2 pairs of
white. I usually wear the white ones at
the weekend. My wife bought me them, but
she doesn’t say much. Remember when Ronan Keating said “You say it
best when you say nothing at all?” Well
that pretty much applies to my wife, but the tone and general sentiment of the
phrase is harsher and makes her feel bad, quite the antithesis to the general
pop-like love feel of the original song.
All my life I’ve wanted to belong, to feel like I’m part of
something, but with age I’ve found that it doesn’t matter, everyone is
different no matter how hard they try.
Trying to conform gets you nowhere but that’s a beautiful thing in
itself. To constantly change and
re-invent yourself, your goals and your ambitions, that’s the true nature of
existence. Or perhaps, quite conversely,
the nature of life is just riding and floating around, living for the sake of
living and dying for the sake of dying, to think of life as nothing. Not knowing is the only real conclusion you
can pull out of these contradictions.
Realising any of these theories is acceptable, what you gain from one you will lose from another. Its a reciprocal partnership, a Ying and Yang/Karma type thing, just without an east Asian title. I hope it doesn’t seem too dull or unmarketable…
I’ve seen my
Father change from a man of strong views, outrageous statements and immoveable opinions to a slowly balding and ever more glabrous and spherular (mainly on the head) version of his younger; slowly degrading into everything he’s always hated. A fate that age will throw upon us all, excusing those who die young, even then they’re too young to die.
It can seem at times like you can’t win, but that doesn’t matter, just because you’re not winning doesn’t mean you’re losing. In a world where comparisons seem to hold such importance, if no one is winning I’m sure it doesn’t bother you that you’re not either.
